Santalales
This order of plants is related to sandalwood and contains more than 1,000 species of herbs, shrubs and trees. It includes the mistletoes, several of which are important hemiparasitic weeds on various trees. Economically important weeds are, for example the lodgepole pine dwarf mistletoe, Arceuthobium americanum, or the European mistletoe, Viscum album.
Typically, members of this order have simple leaves without stipules. Mistletoes have green leaves, but obtains water, minerals and additional nutrients from the host plant. The flowers are always small and usually have either petals or sepals, some have neither, and few have both.
