Saissetia Deplanche, 1859

This genus of soft scales is widely distributed and contains around 50 species. Several species have been accidentally introduced into other countries and have become agricultural pests. These include the black scale (Saissetia oleae) and the hemispherical scale (S. coffeae). Both are polyphagous and infest mainly tree crops like citrus or olive.
