Rhodnius neglectus Lent 1954

This species of kissing bug is found in Brazil and Argentina, mainly in forested areas but it has been also reported from domestic environments and recorded inside houses. It feeds predominantly on birds and less frequently on mammals. It is a secondary vector of the Chagas disease and helps to maintain the disease agents Trypanosoma cruzi and T. rangeli in nature.
