Puccinia iridis Wallr. 1844
This fungus is widely distributed in temperate regions and causes a rust disease on ornamental Iris plants where uredinia and telia are formed. The aecial hosts are plants of the genera Urtica and Valeriana. Uredinia are formed on both leaf surfaces and are reddish brown. The urediniospores are nearly spherical with a diameter of around 25 µm and an echinulate surface.
