Puccinia horiana Henn. 1901

This fungus causes chrysanthemum white rust, an economically important disease of ornamental chrysanthemums (Dendranthema × grandiflorum). It is native to parts of eastern Asia, but has spread to Europe and North America. Infected plants produce yellow spots on the upper leaf surface and raised white pustules on the lower surface. Infected dead leaves remain attached to the plant.

P. horiana only produces teliospores and basidiospores. The latter disperse by wind. The teliospores are typically 35-40 x 15 µm large with 2 cells and tapering towards the tip.

Vernacular names
• Deutsch: weißer Chrysanthemenrost
• English: Chrysanthemum white rust
• Français: rouille blanche du chrysanthème
