Pseudacteon curvatus (parasitoid) Borgmeier

The fly is a parasite of the red imported fire ant, Solenopsis invicta, in South America. It is one of several species of Pseudacteon released against invasive fire ants in North America and is now widely established there. Like in related species, P. curvatus larvae develops inside the head of the fire ant which eventually falls off (decapitating fly).
