Plantaginaceae (weeds) - (plantain family)

This is a diverse family of herbaceous plants and shrubs with more than 1500 species, including important weeds. The taxonomy of this group, in particular its relation to the family of Scrophulariaceae has been repeatedly revised. Some authors use the name Veronicaceae for this family. This is an older name, however, the name Plantaginaceae has been conserved under the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature.
