First report of Neonectria neomacrospora causing European silver fir (Abies alba) dieback in France
Plant Disease 103 (2), 365-365
Abstract: During 2017, European silver fir trees (Abies alba) growing in France were observed with symptoms of extensive dieback symptoms, reddening to browning of the crown with shoot necroses especially on the distal part, and twig bulges. At least 10% of a 50-ha stand of A. alba was affected. The fungus Neonectria neomacrospora was isolated from the diseased plants. The identification was based on morphological characteristics and DNA sequence analysis.
