Phlebotomus neglectus Tonnoir, 1921

This sand fly is found mainly in south-eastern Europe and the eastern Mediterranean. It common in this region and is an important vector of visceral leishmaniasis caused by Leishmania infantum. Humans are the preferred host, but other mammals hosts may also also be accepted. However, dog are rarely bitten.
