Phlebotomus mascittii Grassi, 1908
This sandfly is found in the Mediterranean region and since the 1990s also in Central Europe. It bites humans but usually occurs at low densities. It is a suspected vector of Leishmania infantum and a few field-caught specimens have tested positive for that disease agent.
