Phlebotomus alexandri Sinton, 1928

This species of sandfly is found mainly in drier areas of the Mediterranean Region and parts of Asia (from western Asia to north-western parts of China). Typical hosts are small mammals, but it may be also anthropophilic and can be a vector of visceral leishmaniasis (Zhang & Leng, 1997).
