Phaeoacremonium sicilianum Essakhi, Mugnai, Surico & Crous 2008
This fungus has been originally described from Sicily, Italy, from the trunk of a diseased grapevine plant showing wood esca symptoms. It causes grapevine trunk diseases also in other regions and can further infect olive trees resulting in discolouration, necrotic wood, and death of shoots (Carlucci et al., 2015).
