Oxycarenus lavaterae (Fabricius 1787) - (lime seed bug)

This bug is found in northern Africa and the Mediterranean region and has spread to other countries in Central Europe. For example, it has been recorded from Germany since 2004 (Billen, 2004) as a nuisance pest in large aggregations. It feeds on Malvaceae (like cotton or linden trees) as well as on other trees like peach or citrus. The adults are 5-6 mm long with a reddish corium.
