The groundnut yellow spot virus was initially described in India as 'peanut yellow spot virus'. It infects groundnuts (peanuts), causing significant yield losses. Infected plants show yellow leaf spots which become necrotic. It is transmitted by the yellow tea thrips Scirtothrips dorsalis.
