Onion yellow dwarf virus (OYDV)

The virus is widespread and infects Allium crops. Serious crop losses may result from the infection, e.g. the bulb weight of garlic was found to be reduced by around 50%. The symptoms include, yellow leaf stripes, curling and stunting. The virus is transmitted by various aphid species in a non-persistent manner. The particles are around 750-800 nm long and about 15 nm wide.
