Oenothera biennis (weed) L. - (yellow evening primrose)

This plant is native to North America, but has been introduced into Europe in the 17th century and now has a wide distribution in various regions including Africa and Asia. It can be used for food or tea, but is better known as a weed, especially in Europe and North America. O. biennis grows in disturbed habitats, pastures and crop fields like maize or vineyards.

O. biennis is an annual, sometimes biannual, herbaceous plant which grows from seeds. The plants can reach a height of up to 1½ m and have alternate, lanceolate leaves, yellow flowers and a thick tap root.
