Nysius raphanus Howard, 1872

This species of false chinch bugs is found in North America, mainly in southern and western parts. It is highly polyphagous and can feed on the leaves of crops like Brassica spp., potatoes, maize, grapevine or cotton. It might aggregate on crops, causing significant damage and plant wilting.

The adult bugs are around 3-4 mm long and brownish to greyish in colour with numerous short hairs. The nymphs develop through 5 instars and there can be up to 4 generations per year.
