Nezara Amyot & Serville, 1843
This genus of plant sucking stink bugs contains more than 10 species, including several pests, above all the polyphagous and cosmopolitan Nezara viridula. Other species are mainly found in tropical parts of Africa and 2 in Asia. The species frequently show great inter- and intraspecific variability in their colouration. The different colour forms of a species are sometimes described as varieties.
The morphological characteristics of the genus include, among others, an abdominal spine and the structure of the abominal sternites.
