Neoseiulus baraki (predator) (Athias-Henriot, 1966) - (coconut mite predator)
This species is a predatory mite which is used in several countries against the coconut mite, Aceria guerreronis, its preferred prey. The coconut mite and the predatory mite both live under the perianth of young coconuts. In the field, N. baraki colonises nuts naturally, about a month after they have become infested by the coconut mite. However, during that time the coconut mite might already have caused significant damage.
