Neoseiulus Hughes, 1948
This is a large genus of predatory mites with several hundred species and a world-wide distribution. Several species are valuable biological control agents which are produced commercially and used against pest mites like spider mites or small insects such as thrips.
Agriculturally important species are:
• Neoseiulus californicus - commercially produced and used against spider mites
• Neoseiulus cucumeris - commercially produced against spider mites and thrips
• Neoseiulus fallacis - commercially produced against pest mites
• Neoseiulus womersleyi - common in Asia
