Neodiprion Rohwer 1918
This genus contains around 50 species which are widely distributed in the northern hemisphere. Several species are serious defoliating forest pests feeding on different conifer species like true fir, pine, spruce, Douglas-fir or hemlock.
Females are typically 8-10 mm long with 2 pairs of clear wings, a reddish head, dark brown or black antennae and a brownish or yellow-green abdomen. Males are smaller with feathery antennae.
