Microdochium albescens (Thüm.) Hern.-Restr. & Crous 2016
The fungus causes leaf scald of rice in tropical and subtropical regions. Infected leaves show elongated lesions at the leaf tips or leaf edges, with a lighter halo but without well-defined margins. As these expand, the lesions merge, causing blight symptoms.
Epidemics are more frequent during periods of high rainfall, warmer temperatures above 24°C and in high nitrogen environments.
