Metaphycus luteolus (parasitoid) (Timberlake, 1916)
This wasp is an endoparasitoid of soft scales and apparently native to south-western North America. It has been released against several soft scale pests in other parts of the U.S. and in some other countries (e.g. Bartlett et al., 1978). Common hosts are for example Coccus hesperidum, Coccus pseudomagnoliarum or Saissetia oleae. It is normally gregarious, but can be solitary on some hosts, passing through 2-4 generations for each generation of its scale host.
