Merremia aegyptia (weed) (L.) Urb. - (hairy woodrose)

This plants is widely distributed in tropical regions. Its origin is uncertain, but it is regarded as introduced and invasive in several countries like Australia or the U.S. It is often an environmental weed like in Australia. As an agricultural weed, it affects crops like maize or sugarcane.

The leaves have long petioles and are each divided into 5 elliptical leaflets. The flowers are white and the fruits are spherical capsules containing 4 seeds each.
