Merremia Dennst. ex Endl. - (woodroses)

This plant genus includes more than 50 species of climbing vines, found mainly in the tropics and subtropics. Some are grown as ornamentals, but several species are regarded as agricultural and environmental weeds which overgrow crops and other vegetation. For example, Merremia aegyptia is common and invasive in several countries, often escaping from gardens.
