Medicago polymorpha (weed) L. - (California burclover)
This plant is native to the Mediterranean region and Western Asia, but has been introduced into many other regions, either accidentally or as a fodder crop. It is regarded as invasive in many countries and affects crops like cereals, vegetables, or fruit trees. In addition, the coiled seed pods often stick to clothes and the fur of animals. In Australia, wool contaminated by the pods is degraded.
The plant can grow to a height of about ½ m, with clover-like leaves and flowers. The flowers are yellow and the curled pods are around 6-7 mm wide. The pods are spiny, coil 3-5 times, and contain several kidney-shaped seeds.
