Macrosiphoniella Del Guercio, 1911

This genus of aphids includes more than 100 species (Aphid Species File). Most of them are found in the northern hemisphere and many are specialists, feeding on certain plants of the family Asteraceae. A number of species are pests of ornamentals and other crops like the tansy aphid (Macrosiphoniella tanacetaria) or the chrysanthemum aphid (M. sanborni).

The adults typically have a body length of 2-4 mm and a green or brown colour. However, the legs and antennae can be dark or black. The antennae are longer than the body, the eyes are red and the tip of the rostrum is usually pointed. The siphunculi are normally short and often wider in the middle (swollen). The cauda is long and finger-shaped.
