Luteovirus pashordei

Assigned virus:
barley yellow dwarf virus-PAS (BYDVPAS)

The barley yellow dwarf virus-PAS is part of the Barley yellow dwarf virus complex and is widely distributed. For example, in the Czech Republic it is a common virus, infecting cereals and grasses and causing yield losses on cereals (Jarosová et al., 2013). Among the cereals, mainly wheat and barley have been recorded as host plants. BYDVPAS is closely related to the barley yellow dwarf virus-PAV (Luteovirus pavhordei), with both viruses being distinguished by differences in the coat protein and DNA sequences (Mayo, 2002). Both viruses are transmitted by the cereal aphids Rhopalosiphum padi and Sitobion avenae.
