Loxosceles laeta (Nicolet, 1849) - (Chilean recluse spider)
This species is considered to be the most poisonous recluse spider. It is found in South America but some introductions into North America have been reported. However, these have not resulted in significant spread beyond small confined populations.
The spider is not aggressive, but bites can result when the spider hides in clothes. The bites often cause serious skin lesions which might take months to heal. About 3-4% of the cases have resulted in deaths.
