Lonsdalea quercina (Hildebrand and Schroth 1967) Brady et al. 2012 - (drippy blight disease)

This bacterium causes bark canker, dieback, drippy blight, and drippy nut on oak as well as similar diseases on other plants in various regions. Insects visit the diseased trees, feed on the exudates, contaminate themselves with the bacterium and are presumably involved in the dispersal of the pathogen (Sitz et al., 2019). Lonsdalea quercina subsp. populi infects poplar. The bacterium is Gram-negative and facultative anaerobic.
