Linepithema micans (Forel, 1908)

This ant is native to South America and is regarded as a pest in vineyards because it protects the ground pearl Eurhizococcus brasiliensis. It also transports and spreads the first instar nymphs of the scale insects. L. micans can be confused with the Argentine ant, Linepithema humile.
