Limothrips cerealium Haliday, 1836 - (grain thrips)

This thrips is widely distributed in temperate regions and infests cereals, including wheat, rye, oats, barley and maize, causing significant yield losses. The thrips lives and feeds mainly in the developing ears, but may also infest the leaf sheaths and feed on the young leaves. Further, it may become a nuisance pest when invading houses in large numbers, searching for a place to hibernate.
