Kyuri green mottle mosaic virus (KGMMV)

This virus is found in Asia and infects mainly cucurbits like cucumber, squash and melon. The symptoms include deformed leaves and fruits, chlorotic spots, mottling and stunting. Infections typically result in severe yield reduction. The virus is closely related to, but distinct from Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV), e.g. see Tan et al. (2000). It was originally described from Japan and Korea, where it has been regarded as cucumber strain of CGMMV. KGMMV is soilborne and remarkably stable. It can be easily transmitted mechanically during pruning or harvesting, as well as through infected seeds or soil.
