The terrestrial ecology of Ascension Island
Journal of Applied Ecology 1 (2), 219-251
Abstract: Six Saltatoria species were recorded from Ascension Island in the South Atlantic during an ecological survey in 1957-58. They included Schistocerca sp. and Locusta migratoria from the coastal desert, where they occurred particularly on isolated bushes of Euphorbia origanoides. Gryllus bimaculatus was widespread, and was found on Chenopodium murale as well as among the debris in the breeding ground of the wideawake tern, Sterna fuscata.
