Hylurgops palliatus (Gyllenhal, 1813) - (lesser spruce shoot beetle)
This bark beetle is native to Europe and northern Asia, but introduced in North and Central America (Hoebeke & Acciavatti, 2006). It breeds in spruce and other conifer trees, but mainly dying or fallen trees are attacked. The adults are around 3 mm long. In North America, there are 2 generations per year with larvae or pupae overwintering in the galleries and adults in the litter or under the bark (BugwoodWiki).
