Hyalopterus Koch, 1854

This is a small genus of aphids, closely related to the genus Rhopalosiphum, but with smaller siphunculi. It contains only 3 species, the 2 species listed below are considered agricultural pests, infesting mainly fruit and nut trees from the genus Prunus. The genus is widely distributed.

The life cycle involves Prunus as a winter host and reeds (Phragmites) as a summer host. The adults are small to medium-sized and typically greeninsh. Nymphs and wingless adults are covered with mealy wax secretions. The antennae are shorter than the body, and the siphunculi are shorter than the cauda.
