Hellula rogatalis (Hulst, 1886)

This cabbage webworm is found mainly in southern parts of North America. It attacks different species of Brassicaceae and the larvae feed on the leaves and construct protective webbing. The damage can make crops unmarketable, and heavy infestations can lead to the larvae boring into and destroying the buds. Also the stems of young plants may be attacked.

The adults have a wingspan of around 20 mm, and the wings are mottled in different shades of brown. H. rogatalis is very similar to Hellula undalis and has been misidentified for that species in the past. Both species can be distinguished by the structure of the genitalia.
