Exobasidium Woronin 1867

This genus of basidiomycetous plant pathogenic fungi is widely distributed and includes around 50 species. These cause deformations and galls on a variety of plants. The structures range from leaf blisters (right image) to conspicuous gall-like outgrowths from the leaves (left image). These form basidiospores and are usually hollow. The host range of the species is typically restricted. Exobasidium vexans is found in Asia, causing the white blister disease of tea.
