Eutypa Tul. & C. Tul. 1863

This genus of ascomycete fungi is found on woody plants and contains several plant pathogens that infect grapevine and other crops. Economically, the most important species is Eutypa lata which is widely distributed, causing dieback diseases. The perithecia are embedded in the stroma and have a polar ostiole. The asci are unitunicate, elongated and with an apical pore. Asexual forms, producing conidia, have been described for some species under the genus Libertella.
