Euphorbia maculata (weed) L. - (spotted spurge, spotted sandmat)
This plant is a weedy annual herb native to North America. It has spread to southern and central Europe and to parts of Asia, South/Central America, and Australia/NewZealand. It affects various crops and invades lawns, suppressing their growth (e.g. see Berchielli-Robertson et al., 1990). E. maculata grows mainly along the ground, and is hairy, with a richly branched reddish stem. The leaves often have a small dark or reddish spot around the middle.
