Euphorbia heterophylla (weed) L. - (painted euphorbia)

This plant is a tropical weed which is believed to be native to tropical and subtropical parts of the Americas. However, it has been introduced as an ornamental to other regions or has spread accidentally. It is now found in warmer parts of Asia, Africa, the Mediterranean region and Australia.

It is often a problem in crops like soybeans or maize. It also grows in perennial plantations such as sugarcane and orchards. The plants grow up to a height of 50 cm or more and the apical leaves are often bright red.
