Eulecanium tiliae (Linnaeus, 1758) - (gooseberry scale)
This soft scale is widely distributed in Europe, Asia and North America. It is regarded as introduced in North America (e.g. see Miller & Miller, 2003). E. tiliae is a polyphagous pest, infesting various forest and fruit trees like Quercus, Tilia, Acer or Prunus species. The adult female scale is hemispherical, around 6 mm in diameter, shiny with a yellowish-brown to dark brown colour.
