Erwinia persicina Hao et al., 1990
This rod-shaped bacterium is Gram-negative and widely distributed. It has been reported as a cause of various plant disease, for example leaf spot diseases on beans and peas, pink rot on onion and garlic bulbs, soft rot diseases, or a pink seed disease on cereals. Outbreaks have resulted in significant crop losses. Apart from crops, E. persicina has been isolated from other sources, for example from biofilms on paleolithic rock paintings (e.g. Zhang & Nan, 2014).
