Elsinoë brasiliensis Bitanc. & Jenkins 1942 - (superelongation disease of cassava)

This fungus infects cassava in South America with leaf spots, raised corky cankers, elongated internodes and stunting. It also causes leaf spots, petiole and stem cankers or galls on a number of other plants. This fungus is characterised by spherical asci, 17–21 μm in diameter. Each contains 8 hyaline ascospores, around 12-14 × 5-7 μm in size.
