Echium plantagineum (weed) L. - (Paterson's curse)
This plant is native to the Mediterranean and neighbouring regions. It has been introduced and established in Australia, South Africa and the Americas. In Australia, it has become an important poisonous weed in pastures which can form large, persistent populations. It can cause death of livestock, although cattle usually avoid this plant, sheep eat it more readily.
