Dysdercus cingulatus (Fabricius) - (red seed bug)

This species of cotton stainer is found in Asia and Africa. It feeds on the leaves and developing cotton bolls and can cause significant damage by staining the lint and introducing bacteria into the boll. The adults are 11-17 mm long, with white and black bands behind the head and on the abdomen.
