Diplocarpon coronariae (Ellis & Davis) Wöhner & Rossman 2020 - (Marssonina blotch of apple)
This fungus is found in Asia, North America and since around 2000 also in Europe. It causes leaf blotch on apple resulting in premature leaf drop and yield losses. Epidemics appear in warmer regions and after periods of rainfall. The symptoms start as diffuse spots on the upper surface of the leaves. These coalesce to larger chlorotic areas, often with reddish edges. Fruiting bodies (acervuli) are small dark and round. The conidia have two cells and a size of around 5 x 15 µm.
