barley yellow striate mosaic virus (BYSMV)

The barley yellow striate mosaic virus is widely distributed and infects cereals like wheat, barley or oats. The symptoms include dwarfing, chlorotic leaf stripes, and chlorosis of the flag leaf.

A closely related virus, named 'maize sterile stunt virus' has been described which is now regarded as a different strain of BYSMV (Dietzgen & Higgins, 2019).
