Cuscuta epilinum (weed)
Cuscuta epilinum (weed) Weihe - (flax dodder)
This parasitic weed is believed to be native to western Asia and has been introduced into other regions like Europe and North America. The main host is cultivated flax (Linum usitatissimum) and infestations reduce the quality and yield of the crop. With the end of flax cultivation in Europe, it has become rare there. The stems of C. epilinum are yellowish green, the tiny flowers are white and have a diameter of around 3 mm.
