Culex antennatus (Becker, 1903)
This mosquito is found in Africa and the Near East. It is regarded as a vector of the Rift Valley fever virus (Nepomichene et al., 2018). It has been also reported to carry the West Nile virus and is a potential vector (e.g. Turell et al., 2002).
C. antennatus commonly feeds on cattle, but can also enter houses and bite humans in the evening. It breeds in stagnant fresh water like ponds, pools, ditches and swamps.
